Quentin cracks us up, and I know we have so many friends and family too far away to catch some of these spontaneous moments. Here's what you missed:
1. Quentin and I were at a local indoor climbing play area for kids with another playmate and her mom. Quentin wanted to get a snack at the snack bar. Last time we had been there, I had sent him up to the counter with $1 to pay for it himself. Apparently he remembered that and knew he needed money to get a rice krispie treat. While I was talking to my friend, and when I thought he was only rummaging through my purse looking for tic-tacs and loose peppermints, he found a quarter. He took that quarter up to the counter and was talking to the man behind it. I didn't think he had any money, and my friend kept looking at him and I told her, he doesn't have any money, but he did. She said, no, I think he does have money, and I went over there and he was trying to get the man to give him the "red" (packaged) rice krispie treat for his quarter. The man was telling him it wasn't enough money and Quentin was insisting that it was. It was so funny! Not only is 4 years old a little young to be stealing from mommy's purse, but he started his first financial negotiations!
2. We were driving to piano class and a train was blocking the road in the middle of our route. At first, being a big train lover, he was excited to see the train. Then, when he realized it was why we weren't moving, he started calling out to it to move. He got more agitated by the minute (and so did I, of course) and he finally yelled "Go away you big puff ball!!". I cracked up and asked him where that came from! He said that Diesel said it (in one of his Thomas stories).
3. Quentin only thinks of our iPhones as our only phones, so when we need to make a phone call, he says "let's get your iPhone", etc., but when we are at home, I ask him to get the regular phone. He must've asked one of us why we have the other phone, and we must've answered him that it is for phone calls at home, or for an emergency. So now, everytime the phone rings, he calls out "Oh! The emergency phone is ringing!!".
4. Quentin has reduced his naps from pretty much every day to only Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Mondays. On Sunday night, it was only about 7pm but he didn't have his usual nap and he had been up a little late the night before. We were talking to Ryan's parents on the phone and he was rubbing his eyes for like 2 straight minutes! He was so tired, you could see it from our side of the phone with him, and you could hear it in his voice from their side of the phone. Ryan's mom asked Quentin a question and he paused.....sighed.....and finally said, "I really don't know" in a very, tired and exasperated tone! It was too funny!
