Thanksgiving 2010

We went to Colorado for Thanksgiving this year. It was nice to have a family birthday party for Quentin since normally we are not around family on or near his birthday. We stayed about a week, enjoying several visits and meals with family.

Unfortunately, several people including Quentin got sick while we were there, some kind of stomach bug. For a while, Quentin couldn't keep down fluids and after 17-18 hours of that, I decided to take him to an urgent care clinic to get some anti-nausea medication so he could at least keep down water. He was so dang determined to drink, he kept throwing it up anyway and wouldn't even give his body a rest. I am pretty sure he doesn't get this kind of stubborness from me :)

Still, it was a bit of a downer on our trip. He wasn't himself for several days, so we didn't go as many places or do as many things. Although this did make for a bit of a less active trip, it didn't seem more relaxing when it just piled up the people to see towards the end of our trip with less time to do it in.

Colorado is where my family lives, and I am not sure when we are getting back to Colorado again. Also, we have not made any spring break plans and usually by now we have. I guess that is okay, and we will see how it goes. I am thinking of just staying at home but taking a week off from work in addition to not having Quentin's school.

We are heading to Kansas City for part of Christmas break by car, and we will work our schedule around the weather. It is so easy to forget how inhibiting weather can be when you live in Houston, TX. I admit that after not even 3 full years here, I am completely adapted to the heat, humidity, and have decided I prefer this weather to the cold, dryness, snow, scraping windshields, cold and wind that takes your breath away, layers and layers of clothing, etc.

We were able to eat turkey twice, one of them deep fried and the other cooked in a roaster until the meat fell of the bones. I also made a prime rib and enjoyed lots, and lots, and lots of pie. I took some holiday pictures of my brother and his wife and new baby. It was nice - wish I could get back into the regular routine a little better. I think I need one more week off!
